Amongst other things, RELENTLESS is essentially about my journey as a writer.

Here are some of the things I have written along the way :

Feature Articles/Magazines

Ultimately my goal is to write feature articles for Australian and international magazines and newspapers. My area of interest (woman's health, pregnancy and parenting) combines my qualifications in public health, education and anthropology, my experience as a health researcher and my life as a mum.

'Diary of a Caesar' published in Offspring, Autumn 2013

'The Dental Quarter: Welcome to Hollywood' published in Australasian Dental Practice, January/February 2013

'Men and Miscarriage' published in My Child, Issue 27, Summer 2012/2013

'Living Room Luxury at Specialist Practice' published in Australasian Dental Practice, July/August 2012

Commissioned Pieces

'Ten Reasons Why a Personal Concierge is Better Than Santa', written for Lifesyle Assistance, December 2012.

Harsh Critic
The Harsh Critic team write 'The unvarnished, uncouth truth. About everything.' I joined the team in February 2013 and am bringing a bit of girl action to a very blokey environment.

Short Stories

(2011) Untitled. When The West Australian newspaper called for local writers to pen a short story about the Perth summer I thought I would have a go. Imagine my delight when I received a phone call telling me I had won first prize - a MacBook Air. Read the story here, and the story behind the story here. It's a pity I forgot to give it a title. Published January 22, 2011.

(2011) Kelley's Place. This was entry in another short story competition run by The West Australian newspaper. It was a finalist and published on December 31, rounding off an excellent writing year. This story simply fell from my fingers, and received a massive response from friends, family and strangers, who could all relate to the description of my Grandma's house.

Republished Pieces

In February 2013 my Letter of Apology to My Middle Child was republished with permission on the iVillage website and subsequently twittered about and Facebooked (is that even a verb yet?) by MamaMia.

Weekend Notes Articles

Weekend Notes publishes online newsletters and websites for a number of cities across Australia, the US and the UK. It is a one-stop shop source of local events, sales and reviews and provides writers an opportunity to actually get paid for their craft.

Here is my profile: http://www.weekendnotes.com/profile/shannon-meyerkort/

My goal is to stay in the Top 5 Perth writers,, stay in the Top 30 writers internationally and earn enough to pay for all my meals out.  My first $50 was framed and hung on the wall.

As of December 2012 I have written almost 150 articles.  I have also won quite a few awards.

Here are a selection of my favourite articles:

Where To Take Your Truck Man Toddler in Perth This was written at the request of my sister who has her own little 'truck man'. It has proved very popular with other parents of small boys who love machinery.

The Coolest Places to Volunteer in Perth Volunteering no longer just means standing on the corner rattling a tin for spare change.

Essential Tips for Visitors to Sydney - With Kids Travelling with three kids is a logistical nightmare, hopefully this article of lessons I learned will help some other family should they decide to make the long haul trek to the beautiful city of Sydney.

How to Meet Your Future Husband in Melbourne I also wrote similar articles for Sydney and Perth, but those Melbourne girls are apparently a bit more desperate, they just keep on clicking!

Brave - Film Review My kids started crying, so I don't know how the film actually ends.

Top Places to be a Big Kid In Perth Kids don't know how good they have it... this is for those people who can't (or won't) grow up.

The Make A Meal Program at Ronald McDonald House My first article, written about a girls-night-out that involved good food, wine and plenty of laughs - just not at a restaurant.

Top Tips for Surviving Interstate Travel with Small Children Apart from drinking too much free wine on the plane, here are some tips on how to make long distance travel with kids more manageable.

Bistro Felix Possibly the most expensive lunch ever.

The Suite It says a lot about my current stage in life that I go to one of the best small wine bars in Perth... for breakfast.

Pata Negra Tapas  We loved the service so much, we considered naming our child after our waitress.

Pumpkin Burger I love this burger.  I want to make out with it.

The A - Z of Breakfasts in Perth I worked hard on making this list of all the breakfast joints I had visited over the past 12 months.  It was a tough job, but someone needed to do it.  I won an award for my efforts and gained about 5kg.

10 Reasons Why You Should Visit Perth Millionaires, sunshine and whopping big diamonds. Seriously, Perth is the bomb.

Book Chapters

In 2010 American author Megan Bekkedahl ran a competition for writers to submit their best short stories about parenting. I submitted four stories which were accepted for publication in Beyond the Diaper Bag.

The book can be bought online through Lulu.com. All proceeds go to charity. The stories themselves can be read here

(2011) The Corn Poo Those of you who are familiar with the term 'A Number Three' will understand when I say that this one was a Number Four.

(2011) The One about Not Sleeping Unfortunately this nightmare is an all-too-common occurrence in many homes across the globe.

(2011) The One About Child Care This is why I never achieve anything substantial during the day - my life energy is sucked out of me during the day-care drop off and pick-up.

(2011) The One About Silent Joy I can be serious at times. Seriously.

Keep checking back here as I hope that I will have lots more to add in the future...
