What's with the name?

The day I started this blog I had about five minutes to come up with a name.

I don't think well on my feet.  I am lousy in confrontations, am verbally inept and need plenty of time to form thoughts.  That's why writing is my chosen sport.  It has a 'delete' option that isn't available in real life.

So I came up with 'From Mum to Me'.  It was meant to be a meaningful moniker describing the journey from being 'just a Mum' back to finding 'myself'.

Turns out that it is a stupid title.  It is neither catchy nor witty nor easy to remember.

Mostly, it's stupid because I quite like the title and identity of being 'just a Mum'.

But it's hard to change the name of your blog and your URL and all the associated techno-crap without losing all the readers I have been working so hard to gain.  So until I figure it out on a more permanent basis, I am doing a 'cosmetic' change of title.

'Relentless' more adequately describes my life with three little girls, being a wife, blogger, post-graduate student, writer, friend, daughter, sister, renovator, cook, time-waster and unfulfilled novelist.

  1. As long as you keep on writing the title won't matter. It's writing we remember...

  3. Hi,
I am about to move my blog to wordpress self hosted. It looks like most of your readers follow you on facebook rather than on GFC, so losing GFC wouldn't matter that much. I also believe that you can change your facebook page name once, so you could just change the name on there and keep your followers.
I think Relentless describes being a mother to a tee.
    I wonder what you'll do??

  4. relentless is good, but the title doesn't matter. Writing this perspicacious and good could be called anything

  5. You got me at "parenting is relentless"
I love the name of your blog! I also love the feature you did on the 5 things to do in Sydney with kids. I'm living in London now so can't do those things but I'm always on the lookout for fun things to do with the kids in London

  6. You can get a new web address and then just have this old one route to the new one. New readers will only know the new one and the older ones will eventually catch on. You can track the traffic you're routing and decide when to stop and not renew this. Let me know if you need help doing that, if you're interested.

  7. 'Relentless' is most definitely the word. It has been how I have been describing parenthood for a while now so your blog resonates with me :-) I now have three too - 6 years, 4 years and 8 months and all boys- 'tired' is also a good word for me at the moment! Good luck with your writing :-)

    1. Hi April, you certainly are in the thick of it. When mine were that age I felt like the Roadrunner who had just run off the cliff and suddenly realised there was nothing beneath me. Meep meep. Best of luck, and thanks fior commenting :-)
